Level 80 gear and gear requirements

Jacko of Kabam-24 (yes the mage who is always top 4 in cross-server strength) has gone onto the Chinese servers and has made a preview of what to expect for level 80 gear.

The main thing is that there appears to be NO normal mode gear. Meaning we will NOT BE FARMING CRYSTALOIDS!!! Everything is done by upgrading your current lvl 70 Legendary gear with lvl 80 Legendary stones and tokens bought with Crypt tokens. Also NO MORE INSIGNIAS NEEDED FOR GEAR!!!!

Each piece of gear (both Tier pieces as well as ring and trinket) requires the level 70 legendary equivalent plus 10 lvl 80 tokens costing 200 a piece (2000 in total) and 200 lvl 80 Legendary stones.

Now this is subject to change once it hits the US servers though but for the time being he is suggesting you get your level 70 Legendary gear, level to 80 and go straight into level 80 NM mode.

I was able to get onto the Chinese servers last night and I'm trying to verify what Jacko is posting. Got to level 19 last night and had opened up the crypt. I can verify at least that the only level 80 stuff in the crypt store were the tokens required but I hadn't gotten to level 30 to confirm the amounts he is saying.

As for hording crypt tokens, depending if you use cypt keys each day or not, it will not make too much of a difference since it will still take 3 months of lvl 80 NM farming to get a full set of gear.

One final note, if you wish to buy the level 80 tokens from the crypt shop, you need to have completed level 12 of the Tormented Necropolis. I will try to post screenshots later.

Ok, I went onto the Chinese servers and took a look at the lvl 80 geared toons. Here is an imgur album on of one of them:

The main thing to take away from these screenshots is the fact that the set bonuses are different. Each piece of gear provides part of the set bonus and not just "2 piece gives X, 4 piece gives Y".

What this means is that you can upgrade as you go. What I would STRONGLY suggest for those planning is to upgrade the weapon first. The weapon provides the 10 rage bonus. The helm, neck, and chest all provide 500 Attack Power each. So when you upgrade your weapon, you will still have the 4 piece sort-a-speak. By upgrading a second piece you are basically using the new set bonus from there on out.

I haven't figured out what the rings or trinkets are providing at this time but given that I showed Jacko the link as well we can hopefully get a translation soon.

if you upgrade 1 piece of the 70 gear set to 80 you will loose the 10 rage bonus you get from having all 4 of the 70 set. Not sure that's a smart move.

However as I mentioned the Weapon itself provides the 10 rage. So by upgrading the weapon, you keep the 10 rage per ability from the Tier 70 4-piece but you also keep the 2-piece from the Tier 70 set.
